Espai VIHtal

Espai VIHtal is our day center, a place where we offer users the chance to interact with other people in similar conditions and help them meet their basic needs as well as improve their entry to social and professional environments. It’s a project developed in order to achieve the social integration and the improvement of the quality of life of people affected by HIV.

Rapid screening test for HIV

ACASC performs rapid screening test for HIV antibodies to all citizens who request it since 2006. This test is carried out only by specialized professionals, and is made from the confidentiality, ensuring the anonymity and privacy of the individual. In addition, psychological and emotional support is provided before and after the test to help cope in the best way possible. More...

Shelter home

ACASC has started up a new project to continue improving the quality of life of the people affected by HIV/AIDS. It is a halfway house for socially excluded people and drug addicts derived from the local network of drug dependence from Barcelona. The apartment has a capacity of six people and provides coverage 24 hours a day, every day all year-round.

Prison system intervention

ACASC works on some projects related to the prison system, either going to the centers to inform and raise awareness or taking in people from programs of alternative penal measures. We also participate in juvenile detention centers, where it is important to provide sex education to the young people that are entering this stage of their lives and are more vulnerable to risky situations.

Hospital accompaniment

In 2007, ACASC launched the Mano Tendida project in order to support and accompany hospitalized people in the Infectious Diseases Unit at the Hospital de Mar in Barcelona. This initiative also aims to strengthen the presence of the service sector entities as a complementary element in the public healthcare network, improving the quality of the assistance provided. A team of specialized volunteers carries out this task, consolidating the project throughout the last 5 years.
