¿Do I thank to the VIH?
At ACASC there are very different people who share their experiences of being carriers of the HIV virus. Even knowing the stigma and medication that the infection usually entails, there are people who have taken a resilient attitude towards it. It's clear that discovering that one has the infection is not a pleasant news in general. Neverrtheless, we found cases in which people see new perspectives that were not expecting opened and find new sense in their lives. If you want to know more you can come and participate in our training courses or become a volunteer. You are welcome to visit us!

HAVE WE FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE HIV / AIDS?

HAVE WE FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE HIV / AIDS?
Cases of HIV transmission among young people increase. It is true that at present, it has been possible to reduce mortality and it is possible to live with HIV / AIDS with a certain quality of life. The infection is no longer considered deadly, but from lethal it has become chronic. It would look as though young people might have lost awareness of the risk of transmission and maintain still many unsafe sex practices. Since 2015, 30% of the positives are under 30 years of age in Spain. Moreover, cases below 20 are also detected. In ACASC you can come to take the test for free confidentially in just 15m. Come and visit us. Remember to call us to make an appointment at 93 317 05 05 SCHEDULE: every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 2.30pm.

The launch of our new sponsored housing in Barcelona

Monday, 11 November 2013
The launch of our new sponsored housing in Barcelona
This week we launched our organization's latest project, sponsored housing in Barcelona, to users of our entity in social exclusion.

In order to further improve the quality of life of people with HIV / AIDS, in November we opened sponsored housing for users most at risk of social exclusion of our organization. In this way, we offer a temporary place to live and so we facilitate the process of stabilizing their lives.

The house, situated in Barcelona, has three bedrooms and two bathrooms and sleeps up to six people. Furthermore it is supervised by a qualified social worker during their working hours, from evening until morning, to ensure good relations and safety of the inhabitants.

With this project, we take another step in the fight against stigma and social exclusion faced by people with HIV/AIDS, but much remains to be done to ensure equality of these people as full citizens.
